This is the area we camped at in Wind Cave National Park. What an amazingly serene setting.
Andrew spends more time fixing the laptop. After it was functioning though, the car's electronics malfunctioned, and we had no power source to use our Franken-laptop.
As a preface to a tour of the Jewel Caves, this ranger tells the history of the park.
We opted for the gas lantern tour which follows an undeveloped part of the cave.
We listen as the ranger explains the potential perils of this primitive section of cave.
When the park was first established, the upper class tourists would come dressed formally. Men wore tuxes and women wore high heels.
This instrument measures the air movement into and out of the cave caused by barometric pressure changes.
The discoverers of this cave mined almost six tons of these crystals before they found out they were worthless.
